Essay The article " Young people are being prescribed dangerous antidepressants "  is devoted to the problem of using dangerous antidepressants among children and teenagers. Nowadays the mental health problem has become very serious and popular. Many young people are suffering from depression, and due to this fact they have to take antidepressants. Unfortunately, sometimes these pills could make things even worse. From my point of view, it is dangerous to take some pills without knowing that it could consist of strong drugs and other psychotropic substances. It is better to always check some symptoms from this or that medicine in the Internet and read some recommendations to it. People should be very cautious about their health. Secondly, talking about children who are under 18, I think, that their parent should always care about mental health of their kids for not making situation too bad that a child has to take antidepressants. In many cases, pills can be excluded if...
The Summary The article " Britain loves booze. But we need to talk honestly about the harm it causes " which is written by Rossalyn Warren, a freelance journalist, is devoted to discussion of the problem of addiction to the alcohol among British people. I've chosen this theme because from my point of view this problem is not ugent only in the UK, but all over the world. First of all, the author draws our attention to the fact that a lot of british people like to drink alcohol, but "nobody likes to talk about the harm that dependency on the bottle can bring". Unfortunatelly, many people were hurt by others under the influence of alcohol over the past year. She also emphasizes that "we shouldn’t dismiss the impact it has on health and quality of life, particularly if experienced persistently".  Secondly, Warren argues that one research said that it is very hard to draw concrete conclusions about the problem of the acloholism because earlier ...
Reflection note This semester we have made many things. Talking about this course in general, I can definitely point out some details, which I have found useful. First of all, we were working in not typically way (use blogger.com as the main resource of communication with the teacher), because most of the time we, students, work with paper handouts. Secondly, we always were talking and touching really important and global problems, for instance, sexual assault, new technologies and so on. And the last but not least, we were making a lot of practical works such as writing creative stories, making a film review. However, I have found one thing that I did not like. For example, the whole site Blogger.com has a lot of bugs and issues, so sometimes it was really hard to work here (the problems connected with posting and deleting comments.) In my opinion, it would be better for us to change the platform in the future for more productive work. In the next semester, I would really...
Essay If I had the ability to read other people's minds For many centuries, people always wanted to have special skills and super abilities. For example, to have an ability to fly, to be breathe under the water, to be super strong, to read other people’s minds and many other different skills. So it is interesting to think what my life would be if I could read someone’s mind. To begin with, my life would be completely different from the life I have now. Of course, I would use this ability to know what this or that person thinks about me. Therefore, I would probably understand how fake the person is, because, unfortunately, there are a lot of hypocrisy among people nowadays. That is why sometimes I need the telepathy so much in my life. Secondly, I would definitely use this ability not only for myself but also for the other people. For instance, I would like to help the police in some crimes. I think this skill would facilitate the work of law enforcement agencies in catch...
Reflection note This semester we have made a lot of things. Talking about this course I can definitely point out such details which I have found useful as, first of all, working in not typically way (use blogger.com as the main resource of communication with the teacher), secondly, talks about global problems, for instance, depression, abortion, new technologies and so on. However, I have found one thing that I did not like. For example, the whole site Blogger.com has a lot of bugs, so sometimes it was really hard to work here (the problems connected with posting, deleting comments.) In my opinion, it would be better for us to change the platform for more productive work. In the next semester, I would really like to teach some theory, not only have practice. I think, that I was doing many mistakes in my works just because I have forgot or did not know the theory of writing or formalization my texts. I really enjoyed discussing global problems in our class, so it would be nic...
Final Essay Nowadays people live in a time of new technologies and innovations. Most of them, especially teenagers, really depend on their phones, laptops and other digitals. Young people spend hours in the social media and do nothing in real life, so sometimes it is hard for them to give up using electronic devices. That is why some people hold the opinion that the usage of technologies has a lot of drawbacks. Others agree that it is reasonable. In my opinion, many problems have appeared in our generation due to smartphones, pads and computers. First of all, young people have become obsessed with their gadgets. They use it 24/7, so the level of knowledge, the skill of memorizing information among students have become lower, but the level of laziness has increased. Teenagers spend most of their free time using mobile phones instead of studying, reading books or doing other activities despite using digitals. Secondly, people gained a huge amount of health problems such as poor ey...
About Stereotypes I have chosen an article which is called "Hollywood Stereotypes: Why Are Russians the Bad Guys?" It was posted on BBC site on November 5th, 2014 and written  by Tom Brook.  I've found it really interesting to read because the author explains the reasons why Hollywood film directors most of the time choose Russians as villians. To begin with, Brook uses Nina Khrushcheva's words, the great-granddaughter of the Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev, as an argument that due to the Cold War people have an assosiation with Russia as villians. Moreover, these stereotypes are supported by the Vladimir Putin's tough stance as the reason for the increased presence of Russian villains now. Secondly, the author mentions a few stereotypes which are connected with another countries and nationalities. For example, Brook tells us about 9/11 attacks, so this made a growing concern among Arab-Americans that they were being typecast as terrorists. In addition...
