Reflection note

This semester we have made many things. Talking about this course in general, I can definitely point out some details, which I have found useful. First of all, we were working in not typically way (use blogger.com as the main resource of communication with the teacher), because most of the time we, students, work with paper handouts. Secondly, we always were talking and touching really important and global problems, for instance, sexual assault, new technologies and so on. And the last but not least, we were making a lot of practical works such as writing creative stories, making a film review.

However, I have found one thing that I did not like. For example, the whole site Blogger.com has a lot of bugs and issues, so sometimes it was really hard to work here (the problems connected with posting and deleting comments.) In my opinion, it would be better for us to change the platform in the future for more productive work.
In the next semester, I would really like to teach some theory, not only have practice. I think that I have done many mistakes in my works just because I have forgotten the theory, or simply did not know some rules of writing or formalization my texts.

I really enjoyed discussing global problems in our class, so it would be nice to continue talking about these things next semester.

    Hello Nastya,

    thanks for your reflection. Yes, the course was more oriented on the practice of writing; however, I have also shared with you a lot of theoretical material. It was meant for your individual study because there is a problem with using the theory in practice. Just a simple example: everybody knows that verbs in the Present Simple have the ending -S. However, I have come across numerous cases of incorrect use of this rule in the works of my students. I am not saying discussing the theory is useless but am saying that in the end this is a more practice oriented course, which at the same time was aimed at helping you learn about the resources that can help you with the theory of writing.

      Also, I can say that I am not quite satisfied with blogger.com as the platform for this course. Actually, I chose it because it's free and has the necessary functions for writing and editing your works. There are better and more convenient platforms but they are not free, which is the main problem with them.

The Summary The article "The Da Vinci mystery: why is his $450m masterpiece really being kept under wraps? " written by Jonathan Jones is devoted to the discussion of the problem of the painting which is called "Salvator Mundi". Specialists all around the world cannot identify who is the author of this painting.  First, the author draws our attention to the prehistory of Salvador Mundi and tells us about all the auction bidding and how this painting has become the most expensive painting in the world.  Then Jonathan emphasizes that the painting that was bought by Louvre Abu Dhabi was not exhibited on September 18th, and this was suddenly and mysteriously postponed. In addition, he tells about the argues among the specialists and the details which mislead about the authenticity of Salvator Mundi all people around the world. In the end, once again Jones wonders about whose masterpiece this is.
